The D1065B is designed to perform free falling weighted dart impact tests on plastic film and sheeting according to ASTM D1709, method B. It is equipped with a 1310 gram dart set, including 1.000 inch radius stainless steel dart head and weight set. The darts are suspended from an adjustable release mechanism at predetermined column heights and then dropped onto the specimen. Dart release is via a thumb screw. The impact resistance is derived from the mass of the dart and the drop height that cause the specimen to crack or rupture. The dart release is adjustable for heights from 0 to 152.4 cm (0 to 60 in).
