The D2085A is designed to perform free falling weighted dart impact tests on plastic film and sheeting according to ASTM D1709, method A. It is equipped with a pneumatically driven clamp and a 412 gram dart set, including 0.750 inch radius phenolic dart head and stainless steel weight set. The darts are suspended from an adjustable release mechanism at predetermined column heights and then dropped onto the specimen. Dart release is via a thumb screw. An optional pneumatic dart release is also available. The impact resistance is derived from the mass of the dart and the drop height that cause the specimen to crack or rupture. The dart release is adjustable for heights from 0 to 66 cm (0 to 26 in).
